David Brownlow first entered the securities business in 2005 as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. Prior to joining Merrill, he spent 22 years in the banking industry, first as a corporate banker with Wachovia Bank, a predecessor of Wells Fargo Bank, in various locations throughout North Carolina and later as Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Manager for First Citizens Bank in Wilmington.
Professionally, David has always derived the most satisfaction from establishing and nurturing in-depth relationships with his clients, and his decision to leave the banking industry to pursue a career in wealth management has allowed him to address a client’s needs on both sides of their balance sheet.
David takes a planning based approach to wealth management, and feels strongly that individual investment recommendations should only be made in the context of the client’s goals, objectives and risk tolerance.
David was recruited by Financial Advisor Reid Murchison to join the team in 2008 because of his combination of experience, conscientious dedication and genuine concern for the client’s welfare.
David is a former Senior Warden at St. James Parish Episcopal Church, and is a past or current board member of several local non-profit organizations. He currently serves on the board of directors of Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern NC Foundation. He is a 1983 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.S. Accounting), and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
David and his wife Hannah live in Wilmington, NC. They have two grown daughters
